2018 Year In Review

Whether you want to acknowledge it or not, 2018 has come and gone and now we find ourselves in the crisp air of January 2019, a time marked by reflection and intention setting both on personal and business levels. For many, 2018 was a year marked by radical shifts in personal direction, opening people from many different communities up into new ideologies and thought processes. That holds the same here at Ultimate Escape Game Atlanta.

Through many of the exciting ups and the few minor downs, we experienced this past year, the biggest reward we have seen come through into 2019 is the freshly fostered sense of a team identity. Of course, there were many wonderful moments throughout the year–we had amazing barbeques with guests, we watched countless proposals happen inside our escape rooms and we had many teams come in and shatter escape records in some of the most exciting and mind-boggling ways. We love when people can solve our puzzles with some extreme out-of-the-box thinking.

That’s all you guys–our fans, and our friends. And we wish to thank you for showing us what it means to work as a team.

Because our ability as a staff to work as a team and to communicate with each other has increased tenfold not only through our own hard work but through our interactions with the various teams who come in to tackle our escape rooms. Like our Escape Teams, our Ultimate Escape Game Masters come from a variety of backgrounds, a variety of experience levels and a variety of talent levels. Each one of them thinks differently, and each one of them has a unique way of solving problems and working with individuals. Some of them came into the business as friends, some of them came into it as strangers–but most importantly, all of them, all of us, came together as a team.

The teamwork we see in our staff reflects heavily on the way we see guests work with one another. The environment our Game Guides create for working with people, helping them feel confident and comfortable during their escape, and helping them to understand whatever they may have missed during the game is contagious. Without this nascent camaraderie, UEG would not be able to offer the unique brand of customer service it has–and it doesn’t matter how exciting a game is during its creation–if our guests are not enjoying their overall experience, we have failed.

So, yes, our most defining moment for 2018 was coming together as a team to help showcase and promote what confident and communicative teamwork can do to make any business a better place–not just for the staff, but for business partners and for our guests. Here at Ultimate Escape Game, we are looking forward to seeing what 2019 brings us—new games, new guests, new team experiences.

It’s a tough world out there. The only way any of us will get through it is by working together, and while our escape experiences may only be a game, they are a greater reflection of the human experience overall. We may be a bit behind on our New Year’s Toast, but here’s to 2019 bring all of us together in teamwork, and to this year bringing boundless excitement and excellent experiences to all who come through our doors.

Thank you for being so special to us, Escapees. Without you, we would not be able to be who we are. Let’s allow 2019 to reignite a passion for working with friends, strangers and everyone in between!

“Individual commitment to a group effort–that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.”
